Why Float?

Why Should I Try Floatation Therapy?

The effects of floating can be different person to person, and most would agree that no two float sessions are the same. With that being said, throughout the years, numerous studies on floatation therapy have been completed and they conclude that floating does have a vast number of benefits. Here are a few:

  Floating lowers stress

The water's high levels of magnesium cause adrenal glands to release cortisol, the hormone that causes stress. The sensory deprivation component of floating can also help bring down stress levels and many studies show that floating can boost mood and relaxation levels.

  Physical pain relief

Float tanks are filled with around 1000 pounds of epsom salts. The epsom salts and zero gravity help provide relief for chronic and muscular pains, as well as muscle soreness and stiffness. Floating oxygenates your body and promotes better blood flow to all parts of your body which reduces pain and boosts recovery.

 Floating can boost creativity

Various musicians, artists, and creatives use floating as a tool to help them find inspiration for their upcoming work. A study in Music and Medicine found that floating improves the technical ability of musicians during jazz improvisation.

  Decrease anxiety and depression

Multiple studies have shown that floating regularly helps combat anxiety and depression by minimizing cortisol production. In one study, people who floated for 12 sessions noticed decreased pain, stress, anxiety, and depression as well as improved sleep quality and general optimism.

  Improve sleep

Floating can help improve your sleeping habits. Floaters can notice that they have an easier time falling asleep after a float session, often noting that they have better, deeper sleep, and wake up feeling more rested than normal.
